We value children as full members of our church family. During our worship gatherings, children are invited to stay and participate with their families. During the music, children are invited to stand, sing, sit, observe, or dance near their parents. During the sermon we invite children to a hands-on learning opportunity that's connected to the sermon scripture.
It is essential that we maintain a safe community for our children and youth. Our child abuse prevention policy is the cornerstone of this commitment.
If you are interested in volunteering with our children or youth and have been attending 2nd Street consistently for a minimum of 6 months, please contact Edie James for further information.
Forms required for potential children and youth volunteers:
Worship Experience Groups (W.E. Groups)
Our W.E. groups meet together for relational community and spiritual formation Sundays from 9:30-10:15am.
From a grand-parenting group to introductory Greek, a ukulele group to a group that's processing the sermon series together, there's something for you. And if not, you can start a new group!
The worship team is an integral part of our services. Each week, we have individuals or groups of people lead the congregation in worship in the way the Holy Spirit leads (i.e., music, art, drama, prayer, writing, etc.). If you're interested in participating in worship or have ideas, comments, and/or suggestions, contact Edie!
COVID-19: During this time we are serving food take-out style only at the back door between 10am-12pm.
Donations accepted 9:30am-12:00pm at the front door.
Our Community Drop-In Center is a a safe and comfortable place for people in need of food or shelter to come inside, get warm, have a simple meal, and experience community.
Located in our office space in downtown Newberg, we offer coffee, food and a place for children to play. Phones, a computer and WiFi are all free to use. Visitors can get their mail, referrals to local resources, and all following:
We always have packaged, shelf stable food and lunch bags "to go" and we often have homemade soups, casseroles and baked items from people in the community.
(Hats, Umbrellas, Gloves, Scarves, Socks)
In partnership with local partner Love INC, we receive donations of these items to help people who struggle to keep warm. Those who come into our Drop-In Center are welcome to pick them up as needed.
The Newberg Thrift Store allows us to give vouchers to our guests for clothing to those who need it. They will donate a new set of clothing when theirs is wet or in bad condition due to a lack of shelter and resources.
