Serving Our Community

As we receive God's love for us we are compelled to respond by loving others. Serving is a great way to love.

"Your kingdom come, your will be done [in Newberg] as it is in heaven."

Matthew 6:10

Community Drop-In Center

Our Community Drop-In Center is a a safe and comfortable place for people in need of food or shelter to come inside, get warm, have a simple meal, and experience kindness.

Located in our office space in downtown Newberg, we offer coffee, food, books to read, and a place for children to play. We also provide phones, a computer, free Wi-Fi, a place to get mail, resource referrals, and a large first aid kit.

(Hats, Umbrellas, Gloves, Scarves/Socks)

In partnership with local partner Love INC we receive donations of these items to help people who struggle to keep warm. Those who come into our Drop-In Center are welcome to pick them up as needed.

Emergency Clothing

We work with Newberg Thrift Store to provide emergency clothing to those who need it. They allow our guests to get a new set of clothing when theirs is wet or in bad condition due to a lack of shelter and resources.

Personal Care and Hygiene Products

Through generous donations from the community we are able to provide soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, razors, feminine hygiene products, and other toiletry items.

Kitchen Set-Up Ministry

Through donations from people in our community we stock the basic supplies to set up a kitchen: pots, pans, dishes, storage containers, etc. Once a month Kitchen Set-Up is open to supply these items to people who don't have the resources to stock a new or existing kitchen. Love INC refers people to us for these items.

Habitat for Humanity Builds

Three to four times a year we join our local Newberg Habitat for Humanity to help build a beautiful, affordable home for a Newberg family. Newberg is currently facing an affordable housing crisis that's causing residents to have to leave Newberg because rents and housing prices have gotten too high. Habitat Builds are a way for us to help with affordable housing, one family and one home at a time.

Community Groups

We enjoy hosting groups that offer practical help and relational connection.

Financial Peace University

A class-style group that teaches practical skills for managing personal finances.

Neighbor 2 Neighbor Day

Each May we join with our local partner Faith In Action and other volunteers to serve seniors in our community who need help with a project that is beyond their physical capabilities. It's a gift to serve and talk with these seniors, many of whom are widows. Giving the gift of connection and conversation is as much a part of Neighbor2Neighbor Day as manual labor.

Equipo Mexico Trip

Equipo is a mission-service trip to Mexico that takes place every other year during Spring Break. Adults and youth stay in a local church to build homes and help with vacation Bible schools and day camps. Equipo is organized by another local Friends church and uses an application process to select the team.
